MATERIALS & CARES

Materials

All WEINANPAN jewellery pieces are developed with consideration for material integrity, longevity, and environmental responsibility.

The work is primarily realised in recycled Sterling silver (925), higher-purity Argentium silver (940 or 960), and recycled 9K, 18K, and 22K yellow gold. These materials are selected not only for their precious metal value, but for the way they respond to wear, contact, and time — allowing subtle shifts in surface and tone to become part of each piece’s ongoing life.

Argentium silver is used in selected pieces for its hypoallergenic properties, with hallmarking carried out in accordance with recognised UK silver standards.

Gemstones are either reclaimed or responsibly sourced through trusted UK-based dealers, with careful attention to traceability, ethical sourcing, and practices across mining, cutting, and polishing.

Working with local suppliers is also a conscious part of the studio’s approach — supporting the wider UK jewellery ecosystem and maintaining close relationships with specialist makers, gemstone dealers, and craftspeople within the industry.

Note

WEINANPAN works exclusively with natural gemstones rather than lab-grown stones.

Some selected coloured diamonds and natural gemstones may be treated to enhance and stabilise their natural colour, clarity, or long-term wearability — a common and accepted practice within fine jewellery.

For clients specifically seeking untreated stones or bespoke gemstone sourcing, enquiries are always welcome.

Living with the piece

Alloyed gold and silver are inherently responsive materials, registering contact, movement, and time.

Marks, tonal shifts, and surface changes are not considered imperfections, but part of the material’s natural behaviour — each piece gradually recording its own history through wear.

Surface variations and experimental finishes emerge through an ongoing material exploration, where traditional techniques meet intuitive making.

Rather than preserving a fixed condition, the work is intended to be worn and lived with — allowing traces of use to become integral to its evolving form.

Care

While the work is intended to evolve through wear and use, some may prefer to maintain its original surface condition.

For those who wish to maintain the original surface condition:

Clean gently using a soft jewellery cloth

If using a damp cloth, allow the piece to dry naturally

Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat or humidity (such as saunas or steam rooms)

Avoid contact with perfumes, cleaning agents, and abrasive substances

Take care to prevent impact against hard surfaces

Pearls and softer gemstones require additional consideration.

Natural silk thread is used for pearl and bead pieces. As this may wear over time, periodic checking and restringing is recommended. This service can be arranged upon request.
